Vend, a top “vendor’s vendor” as a purveyor of transaction solutions for retailers, recently revealed its predictions for 2018 shopping trends — cataloging an even dozen entrepreneurial and consumer expectations.
First, necessary or “chore” errands will become easier as real-time experiential shopping sees an uptick. Second, businesses that cater to product customization will thrive, supporting experience. Third, automation will supplement human capital in areas such as order fulfillment, including robot-customer interaction.
Next, social media will evolve to the next level as retailers increasingly rely on it; decisions will become more data-driven; and, in the vein of automation, augmented reality (AR) will take off in 2018 for demonstration purposes.
Despite online proliferation, Vend suggests physical stores will flourish too. Additionally, shoppers will be more attuned to healthy and eco-friendly choices, and take fuller advantage of in-home amenities like delivery or consultations.
Labeling will revert to greater reliance on QR codes; retailers will “curate” winning combinations; and finally, brick-and-mortar storefronts will transform significantly.
Vend provides cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) and retail management software to enable retailers to manage their enterprises across multiple platforms: in-store, online and via mobile.
Operating globally with its U.S. hub in San Francisco, Vend ranks among America's leading providers of retail POS software, inventory management, e-commerce and customer loyalty program solutions for iPad, Mac and PC platforms.
